Color
4/4: (Spoken: "four over four")
This term is printer short hand for a printed piece that is printed four color process (full color) on both sides (front and back) of a two sided piece. The forward slash represents the sheet of the paper, while the number on the left hand side of the slash is the number of ink colors on the front and the number on the right hand side represents the number of ink colors on the back of the sheet.

4/0: (Spoken: "four over zero")
This term is printer short hand for a printed piece that is printed four color process (full color) on the front and blank on the back of the piece. The forward slash represents the sheet of the paper, while the number on the left hand side of the slash is the number of ink colors on the front and the number on the right hand side represents the number of ink colors on the back of the sheet.

Four Color Process:
Also known as "Process Color" or "Pleasing Color". A method of laying color images onto paper in comercial printing. By using four ink colors; Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK) a commercial printing press is able to reproduce full color photo quality images.

This is achieved by converting each color into "screens" or a series of "dots" set at a percentage of the original color. The smaller the percentage the smaller the dot the lighter the color. For instance 50% Black (K) would look gray.

Coatings
UV Coating
UV coating is a very reflective plastic-like extremely glossy coating that is applied to print to offer a durability and finish not available with AQ (Aqueous) coating. UV coating hardens on the sheet by applying a high intensity Ultraviolet light. This process is similar to the process dentists use to sealĀ molars. If you don't need to write on the product after it is printed, and you prefer a super-glossy finish, this is your best option. (Although it can be written on with sharpie's and certain types of pens) Cutting accuracy also is affected slightly as it is hard to cut a stack of slippery sheets, even with today's leading technology in cutting equipment, and sharp operators. At this time, UV is only offered on our 14pt and 16pt products. If you plan on doing a Postcard Mailing and would like the Postcard UV Coated then please make sure that only the front is UV Coated.
Aqueous Coating
AQ Coating is a moderately reflective coating applied during the printing process, for protection and to allow the printing of the backside immediately. It adds a nice sheen to your finished piece but is not as reflective as a UV Coating. Aqueous is offered standard on almost all of our coated stocks.
Satin Aqueous Coating
Satin Aqueous Coating is similar to the Aqueous Coating except it is the least reflective coating we offer and appears dull and almost absorbs light more than reflecting it. It has similar properties to the Satin Fabric for which it is named./p>
Conversion
Conversion is a blanket term used to describe things that get done to your printed piece after it is printed. Folding, Die Cutting, Embossing, Debossing, and Foil Stamping are all examples of conversion. However, our online products only have folding as a conversion option. We can help you with projects that Die Cut, Emboss, Deboss, and Foil Stamp, but you will have to request an estimate to get pricing and place an order for this sort of project.

Here are a few of the different folding options we offer:
Half Fold

No panel compensation is necessary; each panel is equivalent in size. The front and the back have an identical layout, and (1) template may be used for both.
